TEKIM-UNIMAL-NEWS|Lhokseumawe, October 28, 2024 – The commemoration of the 96th Youth Pledge Day was held solemnly at the University Field of Universitas Malikussaleh. The ceremony started promptly at 8:00 AM and was attended by all lecturers and staff members of Universitas Malikussaleh. Prof. Dr. Herman Fithra, S.T., M.T., IPM., the Rector of Universitas Malikussaleh, served as the ceremony’s inspector.
In a remarkable twist, Rector Prof. Herman Fithra wore the war attire of a tribal group from Irian Jaya, complete with a bird headpiece and a traditional sword. This symbolic attire added a cultural touch to the event, emphasizing the spirit of unity and diversity that the Youth Pledge represents.
During his address, Prof. Herman Fithra delivered an official speech from the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia. The speech included the Minister’s gratitude to Indonesian youth who have excelled nationally and internationally. The Minister also stressed the vital role and contributions of the youth in advancing the nation, aligned with the spirit of the Youth Pledge that has been a symbol of unity since 1928.
On the same occasion, Rector Prof. Herman Fithra, accompanied by Vice Rector 1, Dr. Ir. Azhari, M.Sc., IPM., Asean, presented awards to three Universitas Malikussaleh students who won medals at the National Sports Week (PON) held in Aceh and North Sumatra. These awards were given in recognition of their outstanding achievements, serving as an inspiration for the entire academic community of Universitas Malikussaleh.
Despite the sunny and slightly scorching weather, all participants remained attentive and enthusiastic throughout the event. The spirit and dedication displayed by the participants reflect a strong commitment to upholding the values embedded in the Youth Pledge, which has been inspiring the nation’s journey for nearly a century.(NZA)
