Unimal Chemical Engineering Students Win 3rd Place at International Plant Design Competition PESIGUC USK 2024 Banda Aceh, October 19, 2024 – Students from the Chemical Engineering Department at Universitas Malikussaleh (Unimal) have achieved remarkable success on the international stage. The team, consisting of Nanda, Bayu Darmawan, and Rizki Amelia, won 3rd place at the International Plant Design Competition PESIGUC USK 2024, organized by Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), Banda Aceh. The competition was held online, allowing participants from various regions across Indonesia and abroad to take part without geographical barriers. The Unimal team successfully presented their innovative and sustainable plant design through a virtual presentation, supported by their mentor, Nasrul ZA, S.T., M.T.. The event featured participants from renowned universities, with 1st place awarded to a team from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), and 2nd place secured by a team from Universitas Riau (UNRI). This achievement demonstrates that Unimal students are capable of competing at the international level, even in a virtual competition format. “This is a proud achievement for us, especially given the online format, which required rapid adaptation and effective communication. We are very grateful to our mentor, Mr. Nasrul, who provided unwavering support and guidance,” said Nanda, representing the Unimal team, following the announcement of the winners. The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Malikussaleh also expressed deep appreciation for this achievement. “This success reflects the exceptional spirit, dedication, and teamwork between students and their mentor, as well as their ability to adapt to a digital-based competition format,” said the Dean.
